Zheravna village has 330 houses and 550 habitants. It is situated at 640 m. above sea level. The most elevated point is Rasboina peak which is at 1128 m. above sea level. The minimum temperatures are registered in January (-10°C) and maximum temperatures are in July (39°C).
Zheravna Village is a little Bulgarian Haven with ancient Bulgarian architecture, situated in the central part of the Eastern Balkan Mountains in the Kotel area, to which The Village belongs, was one of the centres of Bulgarian National Revival in all aspects: national liberty, religious and education.
Typical for this époque was special architecture type so called the Village style house. The specific features were that the shape of the house and that the building material was predominantly wood.
Nowadays the Village is a famous architectural reserve. There are preserved over 200 cultural monuments (houses) from the Bulgarian Revival. Some of them are over 300 years old.
Every year the Village has more than 30,000 tourists. More than the half of them are foreigners. In the village there are three ethnographical museums and one Art gallery.
In the surrounding area there are three Tourist eco paths, which include natural (centuries-old beech forests, caves, karsts land forms) and historical places of interest. In the village there many hotels and restaurants, mostly placed in authentic old houses. A horse riding and a “horse taxi” are available as attractions. There are Fishing and Hunting areas.
There is a post-office and shops. There are no industrial areas in this region, so it is a really clean and ecological place. It is also safe.
All this with the combination of the unique romantic and peaceful atmosphere attract many people to buy properties here. Before the changes most of the new comers were representatives of artistic circles. Nowadays the interest is from business people and foreigners.
